The ancestors of Gabriel Beltran de Santa Cruz, First Count of San Juan de Jaruco, built this superb residence that subsequently belonged to the descendants of the illustrious Marquis of Cardenas de Monte Hermoso. The most honorable personalities that visited Havana stayed here. This is the case of the baron Alexandre Humboldt, the eminent German scientist, and three French princes: the Count of Beaujolais, the Duke of Montpensir and the Duke of Orleans that became later the King of France, Louis Phillipe.
